My Role: As a Senior UX Designer I am a key member of a user experience team responsible for creating and designing digital experiences that meet the needs of users. My role is to lead the design and implementation of user-centered interfaces, features, and interactions across a range of digital platforms, such as web, mobile, and desktop applications.
Problem Statement
How can we create shorter login times for delegates and educators to access records for the school districts involved in the Head Start Program?
User Persona
In order to gain deeper insights into the experiences of participants in the Head Start Program, we conducted interviews with both delegates grappling with managing accounts and educators responsible for their school districts. By engaging with both perspectives, we sought to develop a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and realities faced by those involved with placing the program for the students.
Workshop Observation Exercise
We organized a comprehensive workshop involving 20 participants, during which we went the extra mile to gather essential insights. This included conducting in-depth interviews with three delegates and three educators, enabling the participants to deeply grasp the issues we aimed to address. By closely observing and engaging with these individuals, we successfully identified their pain points, desires, and requirements, which served as valuable validation for the personas we had developed earlier. In particular, the educators and delegates generously shared their experiences, taking us through a typical day in their lives, providing us with a profound understanding of the challenges they encounter regularly.

After interviewing, we gathered pain points, and insights to generate the delgates current experience with collecting the information uploaded by the educator.
User Flows
Created web layouts, wire frames, style frames, mood boards, mid fidelity, and high-fidelity models for the HSES responsive website using Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, and Illustrator. Used Adobe After Effects to create instructional videos on how to navigate HSES. Created closed captioning and transcripts to accompany video for 508 compliancy.
Solution
The solution is designed for educators updating information about their sites and their delegates that review the status to aprove funding; an accessible, meaningful knowledge-base with interactive tracking and feedback to other government officials resulting in increased budgets, reduced blocks and improved quality for the students ensuring finances and support.
From here we created a rough flow of how the delegate would interact with the app from receiving the initial email from the educator, meeting his/her government official, and checking their district progressions.
